Share your live location with the group. Enter a trip code β everyone using the same code sees each other on the map.
Spectators watch the live map without sharing their own location or joining as a car.
Open the link, then either type in a trip code you were given, or just make one up (anything works β like "banana123") and share that same code with whoever else is joining.
Pick Driver if you're in a car and want to share your location, or Spectator if you're just watching (like someone waiting at the destination). Spectators never share their own location and don't need to fill in a name/color/vehicle.
If you're a driver: enter your name, pick a car color, choose your vehicle (Model 3/Y/YL/X/S, Cybertruck, Roadster, or Other), and set how often your location updates (10 sec β 5 min). Say yes to the location permission prompt or your car won't show up.
Everyone shows up as a colored circle with their initials on it (first + last, or just first if you didn't give a last name) β that color is the one they picked when joining. Your own car always has a white ring around it. The current lead always has a green ring. The car's own border color shows their status instead β see "Setting your status" below. Tapping a name in the side list zooms the map to them and pulses a gold glowing ring around their car for a few seconds, so you can pick someone out of a crowd.
The map opens on whatever view makes sense for who's already there: if you're the only one in the trip so far, it zooms in on your own car; if anyone else (or a spectator watching) is already in it, it opens zoomed out to fit everyone instead. This is decided fresh each time you open the app, not just once.
If someone's gone quiet for a while, their car fades and grays out β they haven't left, they've just stopped updating (dead zone, phone locked, etc). After 30 minutes of total silence they're removed entirely.
The trip title sits at the very top of this box β the lead can tap it to set or change it ("+ Add trip title" if none's set yet), and everyone else sees it read-only. Below that, a "π watching" count so a driver can see at a glance whether any spectators are tuned in. Then everyone's name, status (as a small colored dot), and (once a destination is set) their distance and rank β closest first. The lead is always pinned to the top with a π, but still shows their real distance rank next to it rather than pretending they're closest.
Tap your own car on the map to set your status β it shows up as a colored border right on the car itself, for everyone, no tapping required to check: green = Driving, yellow = Charge, red = Stopped, blue = Arrived. If you set anything other than Driving and then actually start moving again, it switches back to Driving on its own β so leaving it on Stopped or Charge by mistake fixes itself once you're back on the road, instead of staying stuck until someone notices.
Whoever joins first is automatically the lead. If they go quiet for good, it falls to whoever's been in the trip longest among people still active β a real order, not a random race.
Want to lead instead? Tap Request lead β the current lead gets a prompt to approve or deny it. The lead can also just hand the role to someone directly with Pass Lead, which that person then accepts or declines.
Set destination β tap the map to drop a pin; everyone sees the distance to it. Send message β post a message to the group chat. All Allowed / Lead Only β a toggle that opens up chat to every driver instead of just the lead. Pass Lead β hand the role to someone else. Remove β permanently removes someone from the trip (they can't rejoin, even as a spectator). Lock Trip β stops brand-new people from joining, though anyone already in can still reconnect.
π¬ Chat β every message ever sent on the trip, so you can catch up on anything you missed. A red badge shows how many you haven't read; a short chime plays when a new one comes in. π Trip Stats β a live group breakdown: how many cars are active, how many of each status (Driving/Charge/Stopped/Arrived), and how many of each vehicle type. π Itinerary β the lead can list out planned stops in order; everyone else sees them read-only. Tap any of the three again to close it.
The location-arrow button (Follow Me) keeps the map centered on your own car as you drive β on by default when you're the only one in the trip. Fit all cars switches to Group Follow instead β it keeps everyone in frame as the group moves, rather than just snapping into place once and going stale. This is also what the map opens on automatically if others are already in the trip when you join. Either mode: drag the map to look around and it automatically resumes after 5 seconds of no further interaction, rather than needing to be manually turned back on. Tapping a name in the side list works the same way β it pauses whichever mode is active just long enough to look at that one car.
The π Share button gives you Copy link (a normal join link) or Spectator link, which pops up a QR code someone can scan straight off your screen to watch without joining as a car. If you're the lead and no one else has joined yet, a "Waiting for others β" reminder shows up right next to the Share button.
Tapping β asks you to confirm before actually removing you from the trip.
This is a website, not an installed app β it only tracks your location while the tab is actually open and your screen is on. It can't update in the true background the way a native app can, so keep it open while you drive. Works on a phone's browser or right in a Tesla's built-in browser, nothing to install either way.
